4 Things to Consider When Designing a Kitchen

Consider placing the refrigerator in the walk-through social area so they can grab a quick snack or something to drink. An ideal place for the oven, dishwasher, and sink is in the cooking area.

2. Make Room for Cabinet & Appliance Doors

If you don’t plan for enough space around cabinets and appliances, you may run into an accessibility issue. There must be plenty of room so doors can be completely open and won’t bang on each other. Make sure the aisles are wide enough that the refrigerator and dishwasher doors can open completely.

For many families, the kitchen acts as the hub of the home. Take advantage of this and include a message center for your entire family. Keep it in the social area where traffic flows in and out so everyone can see it. Consider including a bulletin board, chalkboard, and calendar to display meal plans, work and school schedules, appointments, and messages.
